An African legend depicts the first Baobab as so beautiful that, caught up in its appeal, it became quite arrogant. In response, the gods, seeking to give it a lesson, turned the tree upside down for eternity. Baobab uses poetic language to draw a parallel between this legend with issues of migration and territorial nature. Linking the symbolism of the uprooted tree “with its roots up in the air” with a search for belonging and origins.
